CLASS OF 2024: Health leader honoured for achievements in pharmacy

A local health leader has been awarded an Honorary Fellowship by the University of Wolverhampton for his achievements in pharmacy.  

Hemant Patel, who has been a pharmacist since 1999, has played his part in improving health outcomes for people living in Wolverhampton and has recently been awarded a Fellowship from the Royal Pharmaceutical Society. 

Honorary awards are presented by the University of Wolverhampton to people who have made a significant contribution to their field of expertise. 

As part of his current role as Associate Director of Medicines and Clinical Policy at the Black Country Integrated Care Board, Hemant helps to commission medicines and clinical policies for 1.5 million people.  

He has previously worked for the Boots the Chemist, Royal Wolverhampton Hospital Trust, Wolverhampton City Primary Care Trust, NHS Wolverhampton Clinical Commissioning Group, Walsall Primary Care Trust & NHS Walsall Clinical Commissioning Group.  

Having been awarded an Honorary Fellowship from the University, Hemant said: “I’m overwhelmed with gratitude to have my work recognised in this way by receiving such a prestigious honour from the University of Wolverhampton. I’m incredibly grateful to the Vice Chancellor, the Board of Governors and Professor Ruth Edwards for their support.”  

The University’s graduation ceremonies are taking place at University of Wolverhampton The Halls from Friday 6 September to Friday 13 September 2024.
