Study BA (Hons) Tourism Management to embark on an exciting and rewarding career in the local tourism industry
The COVID-19 pandemic is responsible for a shift in consumer behaviour towards the consumption of local tourism products. This means that people are now actively searching for ways to spend their holidays and leisure time in their home country (we call this domestic tourism), rather than dealing with the numerous restrictions, increased expense and uncertainty of travelling abroad.
This is fantastic news for students who study BA (Hons) Tourism Management at the University of Wolverhampton! We are perfectly located to benefit from the wealth of amazing visitor attractions in the surrounding area, some of which are of international significance! These include the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ironbridge, The Black Country Living Museum, The National Trust’s Attingham Park Estate. Furthermore, we are less than half an hour away from England’s second city, Birmingham and have access to direct train services to London. Our strongly-networked academic team have significant connections within the tourism industry, which will provide you the field trip opportunities and industry insights, as well as potential internship opportunities.
With this change to consumer behaviour likely to be a long-term shift, tourism businesses will be seeking to shift their marketing activity to focus more on the local customer market. So why not study a course that will help you to build an exciting career in this growing market? What are you waiting for?
