A local businessman has been awarded an Honorary Fellowship by the University of Wolverhampton for making a difference to improve people’s lives in the city.

For the last 25 years, Ranjit Singh Dale has provided jobs with his company, SCP Group, and helped raise more than £25,000 during the Covid-19 pandemic to go towards safety equipment for the NHS. With the money raised, 1,600 work overalls and 2,000 hand sanitisers and dispensers were distributed to the NHS.

Honorary awards are presented by the University of Wolverhampton to people who have made a significant contribution to their field of expertise.

Most recently, Ranjit has founded River Training Services, which provides accredited training courses in Mental Health, First Aid and Health and Safety.

Ranjit said: “As the proud owner of SCP Group, I look back on my journey with immense pride and gratitude. This Honorary Degree is not just an acknowledgment of my achievements, but a celebration of the people and the community who stood by me, believed in me, and helped me become who I am today.”
