Arrivals & Departures

Here's some of the key info to have a browse through before you arrive:

E-Induction

The pre-arrival induction is available for students that are moving in September and January. When you have accepted your accommodation contract you will be directed to the Online Induction.  This must be completed as it will form part of your licence agreement.

The e-induction gives you essential information about your move to University Accommodation, including health & safety, facilities, support and much more.

Keys

The true rite of passage! You can sign/collect your keys from the Accommodation Hubs below on your moving in date, this is when you will find out your room number.

ALL STUDENTS CAN START ARRIVING BETWEEN 8th - 25th September 2024

City Campus: Key collection point will be in Lomas Street City Accommodation Hub

Walsall Campus: Key collection point will be in the Walsall Hub in the Jerome K Jerome Building (WA building) WS1 3EZ

Telford Campus:  Key collection point will be in the Telford Hub in the Angad Paul reception (SA building), TF2 9NT

Need to arrive earlier?

You need to email your relevant campus hub to inform them of your early arrival date. This will ensure that a room is ready for your arrival. Please be mindful that if you arrive prior to your contract start date, you will have to pay for nights spent in accommodation before the start of your contract. If your room will not be ready for your early arrival, you will be placed in a temporary room until your room is ready to move into.

Please note room changes will not be made during this period.

Room Inventory Forms

When you first get to your flat you will be given an inventory form, this is where you inspect your new place and note down any issues e.g. bad condition, faults.

If you find any repairs or faults within your room you can log them using the Online Maintenance Reporting. Details of how to do this are also attached to the inventory form.

The room inventory form needs to be completed and emailed to your local Facilities Information Hub at the following

City Campus - Cityaccommodationhub@wlv.ac.uk

Walsall Campus - Walsallaccommodationhub@wlv.ac.uk

Telford Campus - Telfordcampus@wlv.ac.uk

Although it may be a drag it will benefit you in the long run, as you may be charged at the end of your contract for any damage/ware and tear you didn’t record on the inventory – you can’t add to it once you’ve handed it in.

Departure Information

When you move out of your uni halls for over summer there are a few things you need to remember:

  • It might seem obvious but make sure you take everything with you, otherwise it is likely to get chucked out.
  • Lock all the windows and doors.
  • If any bed linen packs are left in your room, they will be donated to a homeless shelter.
  • Give the place a clean, you don’t want any additional cost for dirt or damage
  • Redirect your post. At the end of your licence agreement you will need to make sure you redirect your mail to an alternative address. In the event of post not being redirected all post received will be sent back to the sender. You could miss some important stuff... or some free samples.

And most importantly, don't forget to hand in your keys to the Accommodation Hub before you leave to avoid any charges!

Forgotten something important?

If you left in a hurry or had to check Facebook last minute and left your laptop on your bed, all expensive items (TV’s, phones, computer gear) will be kept and a letter will be sent to your last known address for you to come and collect it. Presumably you would notice, in which case you should contact the accommodation office as soon as you can to let them know when you are collecting your forgotten stuff. A second letter will be sent, and if no contact is made after a period of 10 days any items will be disposed of.

Please Note:

If you don't return your keys or if you leave your room with items left in, you may be charged up until the keys are returned or the room has been emptied.
