Hannah Bennett

"I’m a west Midlands based Photographer who primarily works in Digital photography but am interested in analogue photography Aswell. I started my photography journey back in 2019, I’d never previously picked up a camera before then, but once I did, I fell in love. Since then, my photography journey has evolved, and I now primarily work around feminism and work to do with women."

My current work is rooted in feminism and gender. We live in a male dominated industry, and I feel it is important for me to get my voice heard as a woman and to discuss topics that affect women, such beauty standards and gender identity. I have a great passion for creating fun and colourful work, I like to include comedy in my work while still discussing an important topic at hand. I started working with food for this reason. Using food in my work allowed me to introduce comedy into my project, I wanted people to be curious about my work when they look at it and wonder why I’ve used food in that context. I want people to be intrigued by my work. I also thoroughly enjoy creating work for women, we are constantly being shown work by great male artists, I wanted to create for women, by a woman.
