Sam Wainwright

"I started designing in my early teens, playing around with type, creating covers for my favourite games or films but never saw that it could be a potential career. After leaving school I didn’t know what I wanted to do, working in various jobs, which led to me finally coming to the University of Wolverhampton to study graphic design. After 4 years of studying and completing my sandwich placement, I feel like I’ve learnt so much and have explored so many different routes of design and can’t wait to start exploring the world of work."

Throughout University I’ve explored many different disciplines within graphic design. I feel as though most projects demand an interplay of different skill sets to achieve an exciting and unique result. I like to use this same approach throughout all of my projects, avoiding restricting myself to a personal style of design as I feel as though this should come from the target audience of the client or product. I’ve recently become very interested in contemporary European design and motion, from agencies such as Studio Dumbar and Studio Lucas Hesse. This has inspired me to learn new software and skills exploring where I want to go in my career, with a focus in motion graphics and typography.
