Libbie Longville

"My creative journey started for me when I picked an art and design course at college just because it was the closest college to me, and I didn’t feel like travelling far. When I tell people this story of how I got into art I always get the same response which is presuming I’ve always been a creative person. I honestly didn’t know how much I’d fall in love with painting and all the creative aspects that come with it until my first day at college. Surrounded by like minded people I found my passion. As an artist I’ve archived more then I ever thought I could and I’m excited to start my career in tattooing."

Libbie Longville is an artist that experiments with painting and photography and often uses a hand made pinhole camera to capture self portraits, of which she then develops as a reference to paint from. She cultivates her final pieces by adding layers of imperfect strokes to the canvas. The pinhole images create imperfections and Libbie includes these in her paintings. She uses expressive marks, guided by her photographs, using oils on canvas. In doing this, Libbie captures the depth within the images taken, evolving them into her own creation.
