Ella Satterthwaite

"Ella Satterthwaite discusses gender politics, using 18th-century aesthetics to reveal, twist and suppress its mythological standards for beauty standards to relate to the performance identity of those who enjoy the use of femininity. She explores creating sculptural pieces with found ceramic figurines sourced in the West Midlands, appropriating them into decorative works with ink dyeing processes and jewellery equipment. She is currently entering into Curating and Art History, September 2023 and has recently worked as a curation intern at The New Art Gallery Walsall."

The work collective shown, titled ‘De L'homme Auquel J'appartiens’, reflects on my own femininity, its presentation and autonomous desire. Creating narratives through selected placements that show relationships and desires, there is a harsh reality when revealing them and discusses a fear always present.
