Charlotte Webb

"Charlotte works digitally, but often goes back to traditional methods to test ideas and recharge her creative batteries. If she’s not drawing, she’s making, and can often be found in her studio at Wolverhampton Art Gallery. She has worked on a range of projects of differing formats, including large-scale murals, children’s picture books, editorial, and decorative design. During her time at university, Charlotte has supported her peers through her role as School Representative, and also represented the university as a Senior Student Ambassador. In 2023, Charlotte won the School Representative of the Year Award at the Annual Student Union Awards."

I have a great passion for communication and storytelling inspired by history and culture, and I strive to find inspiration directly from source, meaning that I often travel to collect materials for my reference.

I love to travel Europe, especially on water, with my favourite place visited so far being Norway; it’s such a beautiful country with so much heritage to be inspired by, and plenty of tranquil spaces to absorb and ignite. I also find many jewels from English Heritage and National Trust sites around the UK, with visits mainly fuelled by my compulsive passion for learning about my ancestry and general British history.

My passion for communication and storytelling extends to my role as an active arts educator, having ran workshops for the university’s National Saturday Club as well as local schools. I am also currently working with Wolverhampton Art Gallery, Wolverhampton CEP, and Dudley Council.

To ensure that I deliver the best possible service to my clients, it’s important to have the right support network around me. This has led me to take up membership of several organisations, including the Association of Illustrators, Society of Children’s Book Writers & Illustrators, and the Visual Artist Association. Through these organisations I have continued support from professionals in the industry, and many exclusive opportunities to learn and develop, as well as a variety of engagement with others in our industry.
