We are delighted once again to collaborate with one of our alumni, Katie Cuthbert BA (hons) Fashion and Textiles 2017.

Second year Textiles and Surface Pattern students are working on a live brief with Westborn Ltd, a Baby Products company based in Birmingham with a global reach, as part of their Kinder Valley Range.

There is a £150 prize for the most successful design answer which will also go into production, alongside placement opportunities once again as there were last year. Final year textiles student Morgan Pickford completed an 8 week placement in summer 2020 which has prepared her well for final year study and has helped to develop her work to industry standard. 

It is now an established connection which really teaches students the reality of working to an industry set brief for a very specific market and utilizes hands on design, research, photoshop and illustrator skills alongside market intelligence and presentation skills. 

This has been a completely on-line experience for all involved. Katie briefed the students via Microsoft teams and has delivered online critiques alongside taught design sessions and CAD classes.
