On Saturday 10 November 2018, on this special Remembrance Weekend, Dunstable Town FC at its home match against Aylesbury United organised its own commemoration, so we could pause to think about and remember all the brave men and women who have served their country. Many during the Great War and also those in the 100 years since.

During Dunstable Town’s pre-match warm-up, the team proudly wore shirts bearing the names of 14 of these brave individuals who served their country during the Great War, some laid down their lives in the line of duty and others manged to return home.

Each of the shirts was sponsored by a club supporter whose respective member of their family served in the Great War. This sponsorship with the assistance of the club’s kit supplier, Macron, to maximise fundraising, has helped the club to raise money for Help for Heroes, Royal British Legion and RAFA-Dunstable.

In this new era for Dunstable Town as a Community Football Club, this was the first official Remembrance event hosted by the club. We have been humbled by the response of our supporters wishing to honour these service men and women. The club now aims to make this an annual event.
