Class of 2024 set to be celebrated at University graduations

The University of Wolverhampton is all set to celebrate its Class of 2024, with more than 3,000 students being recognised for their achievements.

The University’s graduation ceremonies are taking place from Friday 6 September to Friday 13 September 2024. Over 3,500 students have confirmed their attendance at 15 ceremonies at University of Wolverhampton The Halls.

The students will join a community of over 150,000 graduates in 130 countries across the world, becoming part of the University’s global alumni network.

The University will also be celebrating the achievements of 13 Honorary Graduates, including: worldwide stand-up comedian Tom Stade, awarded a Doctor of Arts, and local health leader Hemant Patel, awarded an Honorary Fellowship.

Tom said: “Wolverhampton will always have a special place in my heart.  It had such a profound effect on how I saw my new home here in the UK. I can’t stress enough how much I love the beautiful people of the Black Country.  They welcomed my family and myself with open arms and shaped my view on what a wonderful, diverse, funny country this truly is.

“To be honest I’m a little surprised but absolutely so honoured that you even considered me for this wonderful award but most importantly you made my mother super proud.”

Hemant said: “I’m overwhelmed with gratitude to have my work recognised in this way by receiving such a prestigious honour from the University of Wolverhampton. I’m incredibly grateful to the Vice Chancellor, the Board of Governors and Professor Ruth Edwards for their support.”

Professor Ebrahim Adia, Vice-Chancellor at the University, said: “We’re all absolutely delighted to welcome the Class of 2024 back onto Campus to celebrate with them as they graduate.

“Graduation is always an exciting time for the University and the city, as it turns into a sea of caps and gowns with students and staff proudly visible on the streets.

“Our graduation ceremonies mark a major milestone in the lives of our students; the culmination of years of dedication and passion for their chosen studies. Every one of our graduates, along with all of those who have helped them along the path to this moment should feel rightly proud.”
