University boosts healthcare courses with new online learning partnership

The University of Wolverhampton has signed a new partnership agreement with a leading provider of postgraduate healthcare online qualifications to boost its course offering for healthcare professionals and to support their journey towards becoming a medical university.

The University’s Faculty of Education, Health and Wellbeing has teamed up with Learna to provide five new online courses: Diabetes, Medical Education, Healthcare Leadership, Acute and Urgent Care, and Primary Care.

Learna, an online learning platform, provides Postgraduate Diplomas and Master’s courses. The new set of courses further expands on the current Health Sciences and Nursing Postgraduate degrees delivered at the University and have been designed for busy healthcare professionals looking to fit studying alongside work commitments and clinical practice. All the modules are taught online and can be tailored to support different learning styles.

By offering a range of additional Master’s degree courses online and offering choices in how people learn, the University aims to continue to help and support in creating opportunities, developing people and shaping the future – part of its Strategy 2035 commitments. By partnering with the University of Wolverhampton, Learna has added a new academic partner to their portfolio which already includes the University of South Wales and the University of Buckingham.

Sharon Arkell, Dean of the Faculty of Education, Health and Wellbeing at the University, said: “This new partnership is a really positive step forward for the Faculty, helping to strengthen our portfolio of healthcare degree courses whilst at the same time offering students the flexibility they need to study – especially if they have jobs or family.

“The University has recently announced a ground-breaking partnership to introduce a new Medical School which will complement our existing healthcare offer for students even further.”

Courtenay Probert, Chief Executive Officer of Learna said: "We are thrilled to embark on this partnership with the University of Wolverhampton. This is a significant step forward in our mission to improve global healthcare through accessible, high-quality medical education.

"By combining our strengths, we can empower healthcare professionals worldwide to achieve their full potential and make a positive impact in their communities."
