Two University of Wolverhampton research students have been selected to present to some of the world’s leading neuro-oncologists at an influential event to help tackle brain tumours.
Every year, more than 2,000 doctors, scientists and healthcare professionals attend the annual meeting for the Society for Neuro-oncology, based in the United States.
Only around 10 per cent of the top scoring abstracts, determined by an international peer review committee, are selected to present at the meeting.
This year two PhD students from the University of Wolverhampton secured two of these top slots and will be presenting their data at the event in Miami in November.
The students, supervised by Dr Tracy Warr and Dr Mark Morris are Prasanna Channathodiyll and Rajendra Pangeni.
Professor John Darling, Dean of Research and Director of the University of Wolverhampton’s Neuro-oncology Research Centre, said: “It is a real honour for our students to have been selected. We have some very talented researchers and we are proud of their achievements; competition for this event is very fierce.”
The meeting will be held in South Beach, Miami, in November.
