Dr Stephen Badsey will be addressing the Chief of Army’s annual Military History Conference in Canberra in October.
This year’s theme is The Military, the Media and Information Warfare and Dr Badsey will be opening the two-day event.
Dr Badsey said: “I am extremely honoured to have been chosen to give the keynote address at this international conference and am very much looking forward to representing the University.”
While in Canberra, Dr Badsey will also be giving a public talk entitled ’90 Years On: Recent and Changing views on the history of the First World War,' at the Australian War Memorial. This talk examines fresh controversies that have characterised the last decade of historical research and looks at issues such as the ‘history of memory’.
He was educated at Cambridge University and was elected as a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society in 1995.
The trip will be Dr Badsey’s third visit to Canberra, and his association with the Australian War Memorial goes back over 25 years.
