Dear Final Year Student,
As you enter the very final stages of your degree and get ready to celebrate the enormous success of completing your studies, we want you to be as prepared for life after graduation and give you the very best chance of securing your dream job.
This has been a year like no other and today’s workplace is more turbulent than ever. For the Class of 2021 due to graduate this year it is vital that you stand out from the crowd.
One critical thing you can do to get ahead is to get support from a mentor. Time and time again people who have “made it”, cite having a mentor as the key factor that helped them get to where they wanted to be. You can do this too!
We are offering the opportunity for all students graduating this year to be mentored, for free, by professionals who have established successful careers in a range of different fields. We will aim to match you with a mentor within your chosen occupational field. Many are University of Wolverhampton alumni who can share their own personal experiences of forging their career after leaving the University.
Being mentored is enormously beneficial
Your mentor can support you by:
- Providing insights and tips about breaking into the career areas you are interested in
- Introducing you to professional contacts and networks
- Helping with job applications and interviews
- Enabling you to feel confident about your career development
- Some mentors also offer work shadowing or work experience opportunities
Mentoring can take place via phone, video call, email, in person – whichever method you prefer.
