It is a very exciting time for our University as we build on nearly 200 years of existence and embark on the next phase of the University’s development captured in our new Strategy 2035
To achieve our ambitions, we have been developing a new Estates Masterplan to create much more connected, vibrant and dynamic campuses which prioritise the student experience and which will support you to achieve the best outcomes. The Plan will also allow us to remove old, environmentally unsustainable buildings, release resources to invest in the student experience and support the University’s long term financial sustainability.
Initially, we will focus on the following key projects:
The development of a Medical School and accompanying facilities. This will involve closing the Sports Hall in Wolverhampton and providing alternate provision.  The relocation of teaching activities from Telford Campus to City and Walsall Campuses by August 2026.  The relocation of professional service teams and activities to the second floor of the Civic Centre.
This period of change may cause some disruption, but we will work to minimise this, and we will work with you and the Students’ Union to make sure that you remain engaged and updated.
There will be plenty of opportunities for you to provide feedback. If you are a student please do share your views through our SU feedback form here.
For University of Wolverhampton staff members, please use this form to provide your feedback.
If you have an application with us, or have any questions before you make an application, please use this form to get in touch.
This page will be updated regularly with the latest information. Check back for updates.

A specific masterplan is currently being commissioned for the Walsall Campus as part of the second phase of our planning, focusing on its future needs and enhancements. We look forward to sharing the details with you once it is finalised.
Within the current Estates Masterplan the Chaplaincy building (MP) at Wolverhampton City Campus will continue to be a hub of support for the spiritual, cultural and pastoral needs of students and staff. We are committed to ensuring prayer and quiet contemplation spaces are available across all our sites.

FAQs - Staff
These campus transformations are designed to create a more connected and vibrant environment, facilitating greater collaboration and ultimately improving the student and staff experience, which will directly impact our collective success.
All teaching, research and support activities will relocate from our Telford Campus from August 2026. Our intention is that all staff that can relocate from Telford will work from one of our other campuses. We will discuss options with individuals who feel that relocation to an alternative campus is problematic for them.
The Wolverhampton campuses will undergo developments in line with the Masterplan to improve facilities, provide room for growth and create a more connected university experience for all.
As part of the Masterplan, many areas will undergo changes including;
- The relocation of teaching activities from Telford Campus to Wolverhampton and Walsall campuses by August 2026.
- The relocation of Professional Services teams and activities to the second floor of the Civic Centre by October 2025.
- There is a planned closure of the George Wallis Building (MK) and relocation of Creative Industries courses to new, modern and inspiring teaching and learning spaces within the Housman building (MX) by July 2026.
- The introduction of the International Study Centre delivering international foundation programmes from Housman Building (MX) from September 2025.
The move to the Civic Centre is a strategic decision to optimise our estate, co-locate Professional Services in a modern and vibrant office environment, and to enhance collaborative working with key NHS and Local Authority partners. The move will also free up the Housman building to re-locate the School of Creative Industries and accommodate Malvern House International, our international foundation year provider.
The plan is to relocate the majority of the Professional Services staff that are not directly student-facing into one space in the Civic Centre. We recognise that some roles have elements of student-facing activity and we will be working with teams assessing specific requirements in the coming months.
Yes, the current staff parking provision will not be impacted by the first phase of the Estates Masterplan. We are exploring additional provision for those with disabilities near the Civic Centre for those Professional Services staff who are relocating.
Campus safety is our top priority. Security personnel are available 24/7. We strongly recommend that all staff and students download the SafeZone app. This app allows for immediate contact with security, should you have any concerns or require support.
We will co-ordinate a phased move of Professional Services teams to the Civic Centre from July–October 2025.
The move of Professional Services staff to the Civic Centre is part of our long-term plan and is intended to be permanent.
The University of Wolverhampton’s Professional Services staff will be located on the 2nd floor in a dedicated space. The Civic Centre is also occupied by Wolverhampton City Council staff on other floors. It has an onsite café and coffee shop which we will be able to use.
The new Professional Services hub is a large open plan office space, with seating for approximately 470 persons at any time. In the centre of the space will be meeting rooms, collaboration areas, toilets, kitchens and offices for our dedicated use.
The desk spaces are mostly in groups of 8 (2x4 formation). There are a large number of individual lockers available for our staff to use for their own storage needs. Cupboard/cabinet storage space is also available.
The project team will consult with managers and staff networks around appropriate seating arrangements. Please discuss with your manager any specific requirements you may have that can be passed on to the project planning team. Tours have been organised with dates shared in Insider. If you have not been able to join one to date, please raise this with your manager who can contact the project team. We will be doing as much as we can to help our teams with the move, and to settle into our new office.

The University is committed to supporting staff and flexible working. Access to the Civic Centre is between the hours of 7.30am-6pm. All existing policy applies.
There are some details yet to be clarified regarding the transfer of monitors, monitor arms, chairs, etc, and all requirements will be reviewed. If you have specialist equipment, arrangements will be made to have that transferred. Contact details will be shared from the project team for managers to update on specialist requirements.
Yes, there are a number of meeting spaces in the new office of various sizes (mainly small and medium sized). We will also be working with Estates to establish a booking system for the new meeting room spaces.
The space will be subject to the same policies as all other University-occupied spaces. There will be a full H&S assessment of the floor plan. First aid kits available at appropriate intervals, and first aid-trained staff on the floor.
As occupants of the Civic Centre, we will be required to abide by the building’s access regulations. You will be notified by the project team on the protocols in due course.
Please note that students will not be able to access the premises. Student-facing services are/will be located where students can access these easily.
The building has accessible entrances and lifts to accommodate accessibility needs. Please get in touch should you have any specific accessibility queries we can help with via the staff feedback form: Estates Masterplan.
