£10, 24 hours, a mentor and an idea goes a long way!

For the third year in a row, the University of Wolverhampton Business School has led a £10 challenge activity for students in Welcome Week, where each group of 5-6 students, on their very first day with us, are given £10 and 24 hours to work together in groups, with the help of an Institute of Directors (IoD) mentor, to create a product/service to sell and make as much money for our local charity; The Good Shepherd, Wolverhampton.

Dr Jenni Jones, Associate Professor and Senior Lecturer in the Business School, said: "In the last two years, the students have raised approximately £1,250 each year. This year, and with great support from our IoD mentors and their tutors, our students have managed to raise over £1500 for the Good Shepherd Charity.

"This was such an amazing feat in such a short time. Our THANKS go to Harry Shaw Coaches for sponsoring the £10s for each group, to Metro Bank for the money boxes and setting up the bank accounts for each group, the IoD for providing great mentors supporting the groups and judging the presentations, and of course to our Business School colleagues for supporting our students all the way too. A fun few days for our first year students to make new friends, with a great cause at the heart of it."
