Food at the University of Wolverhampton has been given a delicious upgrade and a brand-new name.

Now you can expect more variety for your food, tailored food prepared at each campus, better offers, less waste, and new eye-catching branding across all our campus food outlets.

These exciting changes have been rolled out due to a recent catering strategy review currently in its final stages, during which students and staff were asked what they would like to see change about the food served at the university. The catering department also asked for suggestions for a new name for the university’s catering brand – a request which saw over 70 replies featuring many wild and wacky names. The clear winner came from Dan Collins, technical demonstrator from the School of Creative Industries, who suggested the name “TASTE@”.

Kevin Herbert, head of catering and retail, said: “We wanted to improve the brand identity of the department, creating an over-arching name that all cafés, food courts and areas sit under. After much deliberation and consultation, we chose ‘TASTE@’, which meant we could name all areas of catering at all our campuses in the same way, like TASTE@Boulevard Café, TASTE@ Forum Café, and TASTE@ Social Kitchen.”

Alongside the rebrand, food served at our outlets is also being given a range of tasty new improvements. New and tempting menus will be launched across all campuses, Costa Express vending machines introduced at Springfield and City, and a new salad and baguette bar opening on Walsall Campus.

Staff and students can also expect new ways to save money, including the Pepper loyalty app to be launched in October which will add even more value to buying meals and snacks on campus. This is in addition to our new TASTE@ Cups for Life, which include a free drink with each purchase, and the Too Good to Go app which will frequently offer discounted meals across WLV campuses.

There’s even more, too. This extensive rebrand and overhaul will also see the introduction of two-week menu rotations plus new theme days and brands, including: Fish and Chip Fridays, British Street Food, Italian Street Food, Dirty Burger, The Peri Peri Shack. Tuk Tuk (Indian Soul Food), Jerk Kitchen, Wok Asian Food, and Taste Breakfast.
