Black History Month runs throughout October and this year's theme is 'Saluting our Sisters'. The University has planned an in person event for Wednesday 4 October to feature guest speakers and motivating stories. Read more below.
All University staff and students are invited to join this year's in person event for Black History Month - Saluting our Sisters. The purpose of the event is to share inspiring stories from our guest speakers and to celebrate the achievements of our black sisters. Over the years, many of our black sisters at the University have been represented in the media, through businesses and as recognition of their hard work. This event will be hosted by the University's Global Majority Staff Network Officers.
Event: Black History Month - Saluting our Sisters
When: Wednesday 4 October
Time: 9.30 am until 3.00 pm
Where: The National Brownfield Institute, Springfield Campus (in person event only)

The event will consist of guest speakers (Professor Martin Levermore, Annette Hay and Diane Spence) and panel discussions around the theme, Saluting our Sisters, and will include speakers from leadership and research roles. Many speakers who have their own charities, have progressed in senior roles at the University and want to share the impact black females have contributed to their own lives.
