Student Update: Campus bus service

11/07/2024
Outside Wulfruna Building on a sunny day

Dear students,

As you may be aware we are currently looking at ways we can make savings to ensure that our University finances remain stable.

As a result of this, we have taken the difficult decision to stop our campus bus service which runs between Wolverhampton, Walsall and Telford from the end of this month (31 July 2024).

I can assure you that this has not been an easy decision. But considering the current financial challenge facing the higher education sector, the cost is difficult to justify, especially in the context of our priority to enhance the student academic experience and invest in services and facilities which are beneficial for all students.

Whilst the current service has been significantly underutilised, we recognise the inconvenience this decision will cause for those who used the service. We will be working at faculty level to understand the local issues arising from this decision and explore how we can ensure students can successfully continue with their studies. We will also be working closely with the Students’ Union in collating and understanding feedback from those affected, and to deliver solutions to any significant issues created for our students.

Specifically, we recognise the additional cost of paying for public transport may be a challenge for some and we would urge anyone with these concerns to contact our Student Money Team for help and guidance.

There are alternative public transport options available, and we have outlined these on the University transport webpage for your convenience.
