We are excited to announce that work has begun to refurbish and improve our facilities at Harrison Library, City Campus.

This renovation will bring a much-needed refresh to enhanced study spaces, and improve the IT suite for the upcoming academic year.

As part of this refresh, there will be improved independent and group study areas on the ground floor with new furniture and zoning, a fully refreshed silent study area on the third floor, and improvements to the IT Lab. There will be more plug sockets, better signage, more screens and planting to create calm, relaxing and private spaces.

A new Skills for Learning Zone will complement additional meeting rooms enabling the academic skills support team to work alongside other academic support teams.

The work will also see the creation of a brand new, accessible Student Life Centre on the ground floor. This centre will bring together a range of student support services including ASK@WLV, Mental Health & Wellbeing, Disability & Inclusion, Financial Support, Safeguarding and Support to Study, alongside the Library and Skills for Learning (academic skills) helpdesk.

Work will take place from Monday 22 July, please note the following temporary changes to our library services over the summer.

Ground floor and 3rd floor closure

The ground floor and 3rd floor of the library are currently unavailable due to ongoing refurbishment work. These areas will reopen with improved study spaces by mid-September, just in time for the new academic year.

Library services during renovation

During this period, library support services, including Skills for Learning Drop-ins and laptops loans, will be available from the 1st floor. Please follow the signs carefully to navigate the building and locate the services you need.

Central staircase closure

Please be aware that the central staircase will be closed for approximately two weeks, starting Monday 22 July. During this time, access to the 1st and 2nd floors will be via the central lift only. If you are unable to use the lift, please do not hesitate to speak with a member of our library team.

Accessible Toilets will remain available on the ground, 1st and 2nd floors of the library, in addition to toilets located within the Students Union, opposite the Library entrance.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to improve your library experience. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to ask a member of our staff. Thank you for your cooperation, and we look forward to unveiling our improved facilities to you in September!
