The course is designed with consideration of the diverse roles within acute and urgent healthcare teams, including but not limited to physician’s assistants, nurse practitioners, doctors, physiotherapists, radiographers, occupational therapists and paramedics. With a curriculum that emphasises the importance of close collaboration and multidisciplinary teamwork, you will gain a comprehensive understanding of essential components in delivering effective acute care in large teams.

How it works

Participating in tutor groups of 10-20 peers, students will engage daily with a diverse and multidisciplinary cohort from around the globe. Regular interaction in the online Academic Forum is expected, where you will participate in discussions, answer questions and contribute insights multiple times a week.

The taught modules in year one all follow the same format, with six modules, each delivered over a six-week period. In year two, after learning about research methodologies and critical appraisal, you will apply this new knowledge directly as you undertake a professional project in a research topic of your choice.

You will engage in a range of assessments and activities promoting skills in critical appraisal, reflection, and advanced problem-solving, all of which are facilitated by expert tutors who guide you through real-world clinical case scenarios. This will prepare you to integrate key competencies needed to manage acute and urgent patients in a holistic manner.

Entry Requirements

Applicants will be assessed on an individual basis, but will typically possess an undergraduate degree in a relevant subject awarded by a UK university or overseas equivalent. You must be able to demonstrate: evidence of how you can apply learning on this programme in a practical setting and reflect on practice; a good command of English; and basic IT skills, such as word processing, email and internet.

If English is not your first language, you must hold an English language qualification. We accept an IELTS overall score of 6.0 or above. Alternatively, you can provide proof of study at a UK, USA, Australian, New Zealand or Canadian university; membership of a medical body from one of these countries; or registration to the General Medical Council (GMC), Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC), or Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) with a licence to practise.

Competitively priced at £9,760 for the full two-year Master’s, you have the option to pay in full, or in interest-free instalments.
