Primary science
My current role is that of associate Dean for Students & Education at the University of Wolverhampton. I provide strong and effective leadership and management, in the pursuit of strategic objectives by motivating and training all staff to continuously raise standards in teaching. I undertake rigorous and robust monitoring and evaluation of staff performance and student work and develop sustainable mutually respective relationships between students, partner settings and staff.
I have completed my thesis for the Professional Doctorate with a focus on teacher-led research, professionalism and self-efficacy.
Other research interests include a study of the benefits of an international teaching experience on ITE trainees, an area that l have presented on at both national and international conferences. I have also worked on funded European projects relating to school to school collaboration. I have worked with schools to develop Action Research, led CPD sessions on teaching inspirational and creative practical science and taken both trainees and Head teachers to experience teaching and learning in Sweden, India and Gambia in West Africa.
Prior to undertaking employment in HE, I taught in primary schools in Shropshire and the West Midlands for fourteen years after completing a four year BEd Hons degree in English & Initial Teacher Education.
I am currently on the board of Directors for The Royal School, Wolverhampton and Acorn Wood Independent School with specialist provision.
