1982 -1991 Completed student nurse (RMN) training and worked as a staff nurse in a range of settings in North Birmingham and West Yorkshire. (Also completed Foundation course and Degree in Art & Design).

1991-1997 Arts Project Co-ordinator for Art Link, regional arts organisation, involved in a wide range of community arts based projects, with a particular interest in arts and mental health initiatives.

1997-2005 Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Subject Leader Fine Art as Social Practice, School of Art & Design University of Wolverhampton.

2006-2009  Birmingham & Solihull Mental Health Foundation Trust, worked as Nurse Therapist in Personality Disorder Service (Therapeutic Community) and in Clinical Research in Mental Health Research Network on a range of research studies.

October 2009 – present: Senior Lecturer in Mental Health Nursing; teaching across the programme with special interests in experiential group work with student nurses, critical perspectives in mental health, clinical supervision and therapeutic use of self.
