My current role is Research Administrator in the Faculty of Science & Engineering at the University of Wolverhampton, with focus on supporting ABE, M/CS & Engineering. I have been with the University since March 2008 and held varies administrative posts, including being Acting Deputy Office Manager at Walsall Campus Student Office (formally Registry) July 2008 to January 2009 and Research & International Administrator, School of Computing and Information Technology, May to August 2010. I have also lectured, as a Visiting Lecturer and supervised students at Wolverhampton University on the BA War Studies, MA Conflict Studies, MA History of Britain and the First World War and MSc Cyber Crime Intelligence - Research Methods module. I have also lectured at the University of Birmingham on their BA War Studies and their MA British Second World War Studies.
As a Research Administrator for FSE I cover a broad spectrum within our remit including Student Support (Level 8 PhD and Professional Doctorate Students), Academic Support, the servicing of committees (including the Faculty Research Committee and the Faculty Ethics Sub Committee) and Supervisor Management. Our core activity is to provide a high level of administrative support for new entrants, current students and academic staff in regards to all research related activity and Level 8 study.

I have held various administrative posts in the organisations listed below and was promoted as my skills and experience developed - details given are of my final posts in each organisation, together with an outline of my duties. I am a regular speaker for the First World War history charity, the Western Front Association (WFA), on the topic of nursing and women’s changing role in society during the war. The WFA was established in 1980 to perpetuate the memory, courage and comradeship of all those, on all sides, who served their countries during the Great War. In 2016 I was appointed their Higher Education Officer and was nominated a Trustee in 2017. The WFA encourages research and publication by financially supporting MPhils or PhDs students studying the conflict, via the PhD Scholarship Programme which I administer and award funds each year. I have extensive experience of public engagement and the organisation of public events and lectures. The most recent being the Western Front Association First World War Centenary Lecture Series, 2014-2018, held at the University of Wolverhampton. I have presented papers at university conference's in Birmingham, Edinburgh, Kent , Northampton, Swansea and at three international conferences held in Canada, South Africa and Tokyo.
2006-2008 Roehampton University, School of Education, Programme Administrator CPD and Project Management Assistant.
Principal Duties: to support both academics and students in all aspects of the administration of the Professional Development and Pathway courses, including admissions and registry issues, together with exam boards. Projects managed included conferences, recruitment events in particular for the MA and taught Education Doctorate. I was also the link person for collaborative courses with partners such as Further Education Colleges, local authorities and the Boarding Schools Association (BSA), whose courses were validated by the University.
2000-2006 Kingston University (London), Faculty of Computing, Information Systems and Mathematics, Research, Enterprise and Marketing Support Administrator.
Principal Duties: to act as support for the Research, Enterprise and Marketing Co-ordinator; organising post-graduate recruitment open days and supporting postgraduate administration events, including the Faculty graduation ceremony, conferences and courses. I focussed on the support of PhD students, enterprise projects and public events in the local community.
1995-2000 Boston University (London) Research Librarian and Visiting Lecturer
Principal Duties: the supervision of the University Postgraduate and Undergraduate Library, which involved close liaison with both academic and administrative staff and students, and contact with other universities and educational establishments in London. I was also the principal liaison with Oxford University for the Boston University (Oxford Programme).
1999-2008 Open University (London) - Introduction to Social Sciences foundation level - Tutor Counsellor
Principal Duties: Supporting foundation level students, the majority of whom were mature students at the start of their university careers. This was done by both Distance Learning and the provision of Lectures and Seminars, together with the Pastoral Care and support. I successfully completed the year long, in-house formal training programme for Tutor-Counsellors.
1979-1992 London Borough of Lewisham, Public Relations - Information Officer
Principal Duties: The provision of information on the Council and other services to the general public, updating of public relations literature, together with organising and representing the Council at public events. I also took on major public one-off events such as Freedom of the Borough awards and local and national elections, together with annual events such as the Remembrance Day Service. I was involved in a number of projects aimed at local schools and Further Education Colleges.
