A little about Marc...

Marc is a Primary Teacher Educator, Programme and Course Leader for the PGCE and Schools Direct Tuition Programmes that leads to the award of QTS. A Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, his current doctoral thesis is an inquiry on primary trainee teachers implementing digital technologies within their teaching practice.

You can find Marc here introducing the PGCE Primary Education Programme and his 'Marc's Minutes' blog:

Marc leads in educational technology and in recognition of this was appointed a Learning & Teaching Catalyst for the Faculty often utilising his enthusiasm for technology to support and advise Faculty staff members on how to support and enhance teaching and learning through innovative ways.  He represents the student voice in his role as 'Student Voice Champion'. He wants the best learning experiences for students so values student voice and its contribution to governance. He leads on the post-graduate Level 7 module, Professional Learning and Level 6 undergraduate module for final year students, Making Connections. Marc is often involved in primary teacher staff development having recently supported a Master's module on assessment and moderation. He is International Placement lead co-ordinator, having led the India placement provision from 2013-2019; Dubai placements from 2013-present and has now established a new international partnership with schools in Shanghai and Beijing, China. He organises international placements for primary students and recognises the value and impact this has on our students' developing teacher identity: https://spark.adobe.com/video/nSde5ZCpXvOLP

Since becoming a Teacher Educator, Marc’s research interests have focussed on the innovative use of educational technology to support teaching, learning and assessment. He leads on developments in technology-enhanced learning projects to support and enhance student learning. Marc is regarded as a technology specialist but he prefers simply the title 'technology enthusiast', often influencing the practice of his colleagues.

Marc exploits his CANVAS Sandpit as an externally accessible resource to enhance teacher training for current students, alumni and experienced teachers: https://bit.do/MarcsCANVAS

Previously an Advanced Skills Teacher in primary schools, Marc was shortlisted for the Teacher of the Year Award. Prior to that, an electronic and computing engineer which triggered his enthusiasm for educational technology. He views himself not as a research academic but a research practitioner who digests and reflects upon research findings within education, a field of study, to deliver manageable and practical solutions to disseminate to students and schools.

Marc values external partnerships working and liaising with other providers to ensure quality assurance processes for the next generation of primary qualified teachers. He is External Examiner for BA Primary with QTS Programme for St Mary's University, Twickenham, London and External Examiner for Primary PGCE Programme, at London Metropolitan University, London.

In recent years Marc has been shortlisted for the following:
