Garrett is He is a Chartered & HCPC registered Counselling Psychologist, Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, and Registered EuroPsy Psychologist. From 2011 to 2018 he served as Programme Director for a leading Doctorate in Counselling Psychology programme, representing the profession at region and national levels. In 2018 he set up the Psychology Community Research Clinic at the University of Wolverhampton bringing his expertise as a practising clinician to the supervision and training of new Psychologists in the field, where he is responsible for the oversight of clinical training and patient safeguarding. Serving a tenure as Principal Lecturer & Head of Psychology he supports a team of Psychologists responsible for delivery of professional training programmes, meeting Health & Care Professions Council and British Psychological Society criteria. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), a Chartered member of the British Psychological Society (Associate Fellow).
Research interests include critical psychopathology, social constructs in psychotherapy, counselling psychology training, mental health, personal development, LGBT issues, religion & spirituality, destigmatisation and attitudes towards mental health & help-seeking.
