Dr Ada Adeghe is Associate Dean for Inclusivity, based at the Offices of the Vice Chancellor. Her current role involves working with colleagues across the university to close all significant attainment gaps, through the adoption of inclusive working practices and nurturing a sense of belonging for all staff and students of the university.
She is Chair of the BAME Staff Network and Chair of the Race Equality Charter (REC) staff experience group. Ada has a strong and unwavering commitment to widening participation and creating access to education for non-traditional learners and is actively involved in a range of internal and external initiatives to promote equality, diversity and inclusion in higher education. She was also Director for the National Professional Qualifications (NPQs) for Middle/Senior leadership, Headship and Executive headship.
Ada's experience of people management and developing effective team-working is extensive, having worked in senior leadership and management positions in a range of educational settings for over 20 years. Her expertise also lies in the areas of Continuing Professional Development for education professionals, Management and Leadership in Education as well as the achievement of excellence in embedded Skills for Life programmes.
Ada's professional doctorate examined the interconnectedness between Masters level professional learning and the evolving nature of teacher professionalism over the past century and offers useful insights into how today's teachers see themselves as professionals.
She is a member of the University of Wolverhampton's Race Equality Charter (REC) and Athena Swan self-assessment teams. Ada is a strong advocate for increasing the representation of BAME women in more senior roles in higher education, countering deficit approaches to recruitment and promotion. She also sits as an Academic representative on the University's Board of Governors.
