The University of Wolverhampton has launched four new degree courses in partnership with CINEC Campus in Sri Lanka recently.

The University has a long standing sixteen-year association with CINEC Campus, jointly offering Undergraduate degrees in Engineering and IT as well as a Master’s degree in Business Administration at its CINEC Campus – Metro Branch.

What began as the CINEC Management School in 2009 became the CINEC Campus Metro Branch in 2014, offering a more diverse course portfolio which catered to professionals from various backgrounds.

Located in the heart of Nugegoda, a cosmopolitan suburb of Colombo, CINEC Metro Campus offers leading Master’s and Undergraduate degrees and Higher National Diplomas in Sri Lanka in the fields of IT, Logistics and Business Administration.

The four new degree courses include an Undergraduate degree in Quantity Surveying (top-up), Master’s degree in Project Management, Master’s degree in Cybersecurity and an Undergraduate Law (LLM) degree.

Ajith Peiris, President and Executive Chairman of CINEC Campus, said: “Our link with the University of Wolverhampton will further strengthen with these four new degree programmes. The existing MBA is very popular among professionals with more than 500 registrations across 14 intakes so far.

“CINEC strives to maintain highest quality standards in all its programmes with the aim of producing well-rounded graduates keeping in line with the “Beyond a Graduate” concept and it’s our intention to focus more on industry relevant Postgraduate programmes that have a demand in both Sri Lanka and abroad – demonstrated by the offering of four new degrees from October 2023 onwards.”

Professor Chaminda Pathirage, Associate Head of School for Research and Professor of Brownfield Research and Innovation in the School of Architecture and Built Environment at the University of Wolverhampton, said: “The academic collaboration between CINEC and our University is something close to my heart especially as a person of Sri Lankan origin. It gives me great pleasure to be in CINEC to launch these new degree programmes. We have made a huge investment in developing the infrastructure and research facilities at University of Wolverhampton.

“This will in turn benefit CINEC students too as we aim to enhance knowledge transfer between University of Wolverhampton academics and the CINEC academic community of staff as well as students.”

The event was attended by the Vice Presidents of CINEC Captain Peshala Medagama and Tharanga Dilrukshi Gamage, The Deans, Consultants, Heads of Departments, Senior academic and non-academic staff, and student representatives of CINEC Campus.
