Eurozone and financial markets under the spotlight

14/05/2012

The volatile global financial market and uncertainty in the Eurozone will be the focus of a special event at the University of Wolverhampton.

Businesses in the West Midlands and academics are invited to attend the conference, which is organised by the Management Research Centre, at the Wolverhampton City Campus on Friday, 18 May 2012.

The theme of the event is ‘living with volatility’ and presenters are leading specialists in their field from Australia, France, Switzerland, the UK and Ireland.

Dr Vince Hooper, Senior Lecturer, Department of Finance Accounting and Business, said: “As an outcome of this important event, it is hoped that risk in banks; the financial sector and the economy can be better understood.

“It is also hoped that possible ways forward can be identified for world economic and financial recovery. Indeed, at the University of Wolverhampton Business School (UWBS) the courses are highly relevant to these goals and one of the major objectives is to develop graduates with a greater understanding of the global economy, across the major business disciplines.

“The symposium is especially relevant to firms and those involved in the financial market in the West Midlands because of their massive exposure to the global economy.”

The Time Varying Correlation and Volatility Symposium will take place in the University’s MH Building, in Nursery Street, Wolverhampton, from 9am.

The event is free, but booking is required by emailing: stephengreenfield@wlv.ac.uk
