University Business Awards recognise outstanding achievement

Business excellence will be celebrated by the University of Wolverhampton at an awards ceremony next week.

From graduate start-up companies to big name firms, outstanding contributions at all levels will be recognised at the University’s Business Achievement Awards.

The event will provide a unique opportunity to celebrate success in business and industry, particularly within the West Midlands region. It will also honour University graduates who are making a significant impact in business today. 

There are a broad range of categories and nominations are diverse – from city partners such as Carillion Plc and Wolverhampton Wanderers to new firms such as VOiD Applications games apps.

Nominated alumni include Lisa Potts, who works tirelessly to improve children’s esteem, PricewaterhouseCoopers Chairman Ian Powell and Mike Foster, Chief Executive of Energy and Utilities Alliance and a former MP.

Professor Ian Oakes, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and External Engagement) said: “As a university that is committed to enterprise and student employability, we work in partnership with many different businesses and organisations.

“The awards offer us the opportunity to celebrate these successful collaborations, as well as our innovative projects, and student and graduate success, including the outstanding achievements of our alumni.”

Categories are: Graduate Start-up of the Year, Business Innovation of the Year, Graduate Employee of the Year, Graduate Employer of the Year, Strategic Business Partner of the Year, Alumnus of the Year (Leadership) and Alumnus of the Year (Contribution to Society).

The Business Achievement Awards will be held at Molineux Stadium on Wednesday July 1.
