Artwork at The George

06/05/2014

Artwork, including ceramic baby booties and ornate glass paperweights, is on display and available for sale at The Gateway@The George in Wulfruna Street.

A range of limited edition University of Wolverhampton hooded tops designed by students will also be on sale there later this year.

In addition, fashion students are exhibiting work at the venue from a collection they have designed for the Clothes Show Live.

Paul McAllister, Course Leader for Applied Arts, said: “As well as developing creativity, we want to encourage our students to be commercial and give them this opportunity to exhibit and sell to the public.

“It’s a really good opportunity for them and also a chance for us to show people what talented students we have.”

Students from the School of Creative Arts and Design are given a brief then selected work is chosen by a panel from the University. Prices range from £20-£100.

The Gateway is the University’s higher education advice centre and official merchandise shop. The building is the former Varsity pub, which the University renovated and reopened last year.
