University students pack out Careers Fair

01/12/2014

Over 250 students and graduates visited a careers fair at the University’s city campus, for the chance to discover more about these sectors from a variety of employers.

The Law and Professional Services Careers Fair built on the success of last year’s inaugural Law Careers Fair, expanding to give students an insight into popular careers outside of the legal sector.

Organised jointly by the University of Wolverhampton’s Law School, Business School and The Workplace, the fair was attended by a number of employers across the legal and professional services sectors.

“Miceál Barden, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences said: “We were delighted to see so many of our students and graduates turn out for this event.

“The Fair continues to attract some of the key employers from the legal sector, so this was a unique opportunity for students to engage with these professionals and an ideal chance for the University to show the level of talent and enthusiasm of our students.”

Attendees included local, national and international firms of solicitors, leading barristers’ chambers, Citizens’ Advice Bureaux, the British Transport Police and representatives from the Accountancy industry. The employers found the event a great opportunity to network with students and graduates and build relationships with the University.

Attendees also had the opportunity to find out about academic and vocational post-graduate study options at the University of Wolverhampton, including the Legal Practice Course and a range of Master’s degrees. Students and graduates could also access advice from the Careers Clinic, where careers advisors were on hand offering advice on CVs and application forms.

Employers in attendance included: Eversheds LLP, DWF LLP, Mills & Reeve LLP, Irwin Mitchell LLP, George Green LLP, FBC Manby Bowdler LLP, Higgs & Sons, The Wilkes Partnership LLP, Lanyon Bowdler LLP, Wolverhampton City Council, Citizens’ Advice Bureaux, British Transport Police, Chartlands Chambers, The Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy, Enterprise Rent-a-Car and Poundland.
