European placement scheme to aid graduates

The 12 week work placement, provided by the EU’s ‘Lifelong Learning Programme’, is an estimated €250,000 project which will assist up to 60 unemployed graduates.

They will have the opportunity to work in Brescia (Italy), Seville (Spain), and The Hague (Netherlands) as part of the scheme, which aims to support participants by developing their key employability skills and global awareness.

The placement areas targeted by the initiative include Sport Computing, Civil Engineering, Art, Business, Travel and Tourism, Design, Architecture, Mechanical Engineering and Product Design.

The placements are due to commence for 30 graduates in September 2013, before a second batch of 30 graduates start their placements in January 2014.

Helene Turley, Employer Engagement Manager at the University of Wolverhampton, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to offer our graduates the chance to participate on this fantastic project. It truly is a wonderful opportunity for graduates to gain valuable experience working in a different European country on various exciting projects.

“For our graduates this is an opportunity to develop important employability skills which will stand them in excellent stead when they go on to seek employment either in the UK or overseas, as well as enabling them to experience different ways of life, languages and cultures.”
