Small businesses under the spotlight

The challenges facing small businesses will be the focus of a guest lecture at the University of Wolverhampton.

Alan Gibb, Professor Emeritus at Durham University, will present a seminar on Thursday, 15 November 2012 at the Wolverhampton City Campus.

The lecture, titled ‘revisiting small business research: are we asking the right questions?’ is organised by the University’s Management Research Centre will take place in room MH110 at 2pm.

Dr Yong Wang, joint head of the Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management Research Cluster, said: “We are delighted to host the seminar from internationally celebrated Professor Allan Gibb. He has extensive research experiences with small firms in the UK and overseas. Given the increasing concern over small firms’ survival and growth under the current climate, the seminar is timely and will offer great opportunities for audiences to develop insights into the small business world.”

Professor Allan Gibb is the holder of the Queens Lifetime Achievement Award for Enterprise.

He has worked extensively in the field of entrepreneurship and independent business development in over 70 countries throughout the world.

Allan has also worked with many international organisations including the World Bank, the ILO, UNIDO the EU and the Soros Foundation. He has been an advisor to many governments including those of the UK, Canada, Croatia, Russia, Ukraine, Malaysia and Nigeria as well as to the European Union.
