University hosts Student Employment Week

20/02/2012

Students at the University of Wolverhampton are being given handy hints on how to snap up that perfect job as part of Student Employment Week.

The University is hosting a range of events this week (20-24 February 2012) to enable students to boost their CVs and explore their entrepreneurial side.

There are business start-up workshops, sessions on writing a CV and interview techniques and information about student volunteering.

A Mini Careers Fair with details about student and graduate jobs and placements will take place on 22 February 2012 from 12pm-2pm in the MC Building at City Campus.

The University is also hosting two Sports Maker Conventions which aim to inspire people to spend at least 10 hours organising or leading sporting activities. The events take place at the Walsall Campus on 21 February 2012 and at the Wolverhampton City Campus on 23 February 2012.

Corporate Marketing Manager, Emma Howitt, said: “The University has a strong focus on ensuring our students not only have the right skills and knowledge to enter the workforce but have the right techniques to clinch their perfect job.

“Activities during this week are aimed at encouraging students to boost their employment prospects by working part-time alongside their studies, during the summer, taking a placement year out as well as assisting them to find jobs when they graduate.”
