Thousands of calls to Clearing hotline

16/08/2012

The University of Wolverhampton received almost 6,500 calls to its Clearing hotline during the first few hours on A-Level results day.

Around 2,500 people had also visited the University’s Clearing webpages by 4pm today (Aug 16).

There was also increased traffic on the University’s social media channels, with successful applicants taking to Twitter to celebrate.

The University has a limited number of places available in specific subjects such as Computing and Engineering.

Academic Registrar Paul Travill said: “The first few hours of Clearing were busy – by 12pm we had received 4,000 calls and by 4pm we had received a total of almost 6,500 calls to our hotline. We also had around 2,500 people visiting the Clearing webpages during the day.

“The best advice is to give us a call on 0800 953 3222* to discuss your options, or visit www.wlv.ac.uk/clearing where we have details of the courses we have available. We also have an Open Day on Saturday at our Wolverhampton and Walsall Campuses from 10am to 3pm, and this is a great opportunity to look around the facilities and talk to admissions experts and lecturers.

“Part-time study is a good option to consider, particularly if you are either unable to secure a full-time place on the course of your choice, or wish to combine your academic studies with a job. We have part-time places available across a wider range of subjects, and there is improved financial support for part-time undergraduates starting their course from this September.”

The Clearing hotline - 0800 953 3222* - is open between 7am – 7pm today (16 Aug) and 8am – 5pm tomorrow (17 Aug).

The online chat room will be open between 8.30am and 5pm today and tomorrow (16 Aug and 17 Aug). It can be accessed via: www.wlv.ac.uk/clearing
