17/03/2011

Richard Wilkinson, author of The Spirit Level, will visit Wolverhampton on Tuesday, 22 March 2011.

The talk will be held in MX004 and will start at 11.30am.

Stephen Iafrati, from the University’s Centre for Applied Social Research, said: “We are delighted to welcome Richard to the University. His book, The Spirit Level: Why Equality is Better for Everyone’ examines how richer countries have more social problems with increased income inequality. His work in this field has led him to establish The Equality Trust in 2009, which campaigns against the problems of inequality in society.”

Richard Wilkinson is Emeritus Professor of Social Epidemiology at the University of Nottingham and Honorary Professor at University College London.

His first book, Poverty and Progress, was published in 1973 and began a significant contribution towards awareness of health inequalities and their link to poverty.
