Triple hope for Shropshire companies

05/05/2010

The companies are nominated for Shropshire Business Awards after working with the University on its Knowledge Transfer Partnerships programme.

The awards ceremony is due to take place on Friday, June 4 2010 at the Telford International Centre and will play host to over 800 people.

The three companies are Tough Furniture Ltd in Craven Arms, Fairfield Displays and Lighting in Shrewsbury and Eurofilms Extrusion Ltd in Telford. They took part in classic Knowledge Transfer Partnerships, where a recent graduate is placed in a company to work on a project of strategic importance.

Tough Furniture and Fairfield are both shortlisted in the Technology, Enterprise and Innovation category and Eurofilms in the Best Employer category.

David Williams, the KTP Associate at Eurofilms Extrusion Ltd said: "Eurofilms is delighted to have been shortlisted for this award in recognition of the way we recruit, train and reward our employees. Eurofilms is very aware that our two greatest assets are our people and our customers, and we understand that it is our people that drive our business forward and allow us to exceed the demands of our customers."

Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTP) is a UK-wide programme enabling organisations to improve their competitiveness, productivity and performance through a partnership with an academic institution.

Marc Fleetham, Regional KTP Manager at the University, said: “It is fantastic to see so many of our local companies, who work in partnership with their local University, recognised for their innovation and hard work. The University of Wolverhampton is the lead university for knowledge transfer in the West Midlands and we are extremely proud to work alongside these organisations as their businesses continue to flourish and grow.”
