Top endorsement for Forensic Science course

13/12/2010

The Forensic Skillsmark has only been given to five universities in the UK so far, and Wolverhampton is the first in the West Midlands to receive the recognition for its BSc (Hons) Forensic Science course.

The Skillsmark is a recognised quality mark and is awarded to programmes of learning that involve forensic practice and related technical specialisms.

Dr Raul Sutton, Head of Forensic and Molecular Science Department of University of Wolverhampton, said: “The endorsement recognises the Department of Forensic and Molecular Science’s extensive engagement with employers within the region as well as the integration of national occupational standards into the delivery of courses.”

Issued by Skills for Justice, the Sector Skills Council for the criminal justice sector, the Skillsmark is only awarded to learning programmes which have undergone the rigorous Skillsmark endorsement process.

Skillsmark endorsed programmes provide learners with the skills and knowledge they need for employment. It also ensures that programmes are up to date and fit for purpose and have been designed specifically with employers’ needs in mind.
