Student exhibition opens doors

02/09/2009

The University’s School of Art & Design will host the event which opens its doors to the public on Saturday 5 September.

The show at the MK Building in Molineux Street features a range of work by students on Masters of Arts (MA) programmes, including ceramics, graphic design and interior design. The event follows the success of the undergraduate degree shows in June.

Colin Davies, Head of MA programmes, said: “The work on show is the culmination of each student’s investigation into the practice and theory of their subject and will underpin their professional development over the coming years.

“I look forward to seeing how the MA acts as a launch pad to their careers as they return to their professional lives both locally and around the globe. I wish all of our graduates a prosperous and creative future.”

The Graduate Exhibition 2009 is open until Saturday 12 September. The opening times are Monday 7 September to Friday 11 September from 9am to 5pm, and on Saturday 5 and Saturday 12 September from 10am until 4pm.

In addition to the MA students, resident practicing artists will be exhibiting their work. The School of Art & Design is one of a handful of colleges and universities across England that has been successful in its application to run an Artists Access to Art Colleges Scheme (AA2A).

At a local level the AA2A scheme will give four artists and makers each year the opportunity to use the School’s facilities, from computers to kilns and life rooms to libraries, to develop their work.
