Nalini nets second national nomination

28/09/2009

Nalini Patel scooped the IT Service and Support Person of the Year Award earlier this year at the Service Desk Institute (SDI) Service Desk and IT Support Excellence Awards.

Now, she has reached the finals of the BCS (British Computer Society) and Computing UK IT Industry Awards for the IT Service and Support Professional of the Year.

The awards are a new joint venture between BCS and Computing. They are open to the entire IT profession and are aimed at showcasing and celebrating best practice, innovation and excellence.

Nalini, a member of the IT Services Service Desk team, will be interviewed next week by a judging panel.

David Clarke, BCS Chief Executive said: “I’m particularly pleased to see so many entries in these difficult economic conditions; it reinforces the importance of IT in delivering business and social benefit. Our awards are central to our drive to create the IT profession and the finalists can be proud of their achievements. “

Nalini said she was delighted to be shortlisted, particularly as most of her competitors are in more senior positions, including directors.

Robin Booth, Publishing Director of Computing, said: “The Awards are a showcase for the very best in the UK IT industry and those who have been announced as finalists can be very proud of their outstanding achievement. The next stage of judging is going to be very difficult. The variety of entrants emphasises not only the value of IT today, but also the way which it touches so many areas of life.”

The awards will be held at the Battersea Park Events Arena on 12 November 2009.
