Library team shortlisted for top award

05/05/2009

The team is delighted to have reached the finals in the Outstanding Library Team category of the prestigious awards.

The winners will be announced at a ceremony on Tuesday, 9 June 2009 at the London Hilton Hotel in Park Lane.

The Outstanding Library Team category recognises the importance of first-class library facilities to enable universities to provide quality education for students. Universities were asked to describe the innovations they have introduced over the past year and how these have worked, as well as what makes the library services special.

Fiona Parsons, Director of Learning & Information Services, said: “I am delighted to receive such recognition for the Library Service. We are proud of our ability to provide the library services which students want, and have a track record of using cutting edge technology to help us to deliver these services. I’m thrilled that we have been shortlisted for this prestigious award.”

The University has Learning Centres at all four of its campuses in Wolverhampton, Compton, Telford and Walsall. The Learning Centres combine traditional library services with hi-tech facilities to offer students access to a wider range of materials for their studies.

The Times Higher Education Leadership & Management Awards celebrate the sector's management and financial acumen. The judges are looking for outstanding examples of best practice in 2008.
