New scheme to help postgraduates seeking employment

13/08/2009

One of the first postgraduate initiatives of its kind, Masters+ incorporates a set of skills workshops designed to develop the career potential of postgraduates. The workshops are practical and industry driven, and offer students the chance to acquire additional skills which would typically lie beyond the scope of a Masters course.

The workshops run parallel to taught Masters courses in Applied Sport and Exercise Science, Dance Science, Drama and Performance, Music, Tourism and Hospitality Management.

Associate Dean, Karen Bill, said: ”By participating in Masters+ workshops our students will gain technical, business and leadership skills, which will add weight to their CVs and open up employers’ eyes to their potential.”

The workshops include Psychometric Testing, Business Start Up Skills, Personal Image Presentations and Research Software skills, among others.

Following successful participation in a Masters+ workshop, students will gain a certificate of attendance and resources to support their learning.

Masters+ will be available to students embarking on a Postgraduate Course within the School of Sport, Performing Arts and Leisure from September 2009.
