International reputation for University facilities

The University of Wolverhampton has built an international reputation for the quality of its learning spaces, and has already hosted visits from university representatives around the UK and as far afield as South Australia.International reputation for University facilities‌
 
The visitors were given a tour of one of the University’s newest buildings, the £13.5 million Teaching and Administration Building on Camp Street, opened by Sarah Brown last year. This features state-of-the-art teaching facilities and innovative oval-shaped Learning Pods. They also visited the Harrison Learning Centre, which combines traditional library services with hi-tech facilities and were given a demonstration of new types of technology supported learning by the University’s School of Computing and Information Technology.
 
Sarah Chaloner, Assistant Director (Academic) of IT Services at the University of Wolverhampton, added: "Despite a number of constraints that must be considered when building new spaces, our students are always at the centre of any design decisions."
 
Prof Lai Choy Heng, Vice-Provost Academic Affairs at the National University of Singapore, said: "Throughout today I have been impressed by how student focused the University's building design is."
 
The University has also developed innovative social learning spaces on its City and Walsall campuses, which provide free access to IT facilities in a relaxed environment. In addition, the multi-million pound Technology Complex at City Campus is one of the leading IT facilities of its kind in Europe. Students, researchers and businesses can access more than 600 hi-specification PCs, running the latest software.
 
Associate Dean, Institute for Learning Enhancement, Helen Gale, added: "The key to our success has been our very collaborative approach, the Institute for Learning Enhancement, IT Services and our Facilities Department working very closely together.”
