Chance to check out city’s art collections

12/06/2008
The University and Wolverhampton Art Gallery are highlighting the opportunities to view and research art in the city by launching a joint flyer which provides information about what is available.

The Harrison Learning Centre at the University’s City Campus is open to visitors and it is free to browse the book and journal collections covering art history, modern and contemporary art.

And it is also free to visit Wolverhampton Art Gallery, in Lichfield Street, and catch one of the exciting temporary exhibitions or check out one of the displays from the gallery’s varied collections.

Art & Design specialist at the University, Tom Hicks, said: “The idea is to promote access to our extensive collections in the Harrison Learning Centre in St Peter’s Square and to promote the fact that Art & Design is studied at the University of Wolverhampton.”

Participation Officer at the Gallery, Jenny Parkins, said: “We really want to raise awareness of the huge amount of free art resources that people in Wolverhampton can access. The Gallery has fantastic fine art collections for visitors to see on display, in the resource centre and online, where more and more items from the collection are being uploaded for the public to see every day.”

To access the Harrison Learning Centre, people need to collect a visitor’s pass from the main University reception in MA Building, Wulfruna Street. For further information visit www.wlv.ac.uk/lib/visitors
